Delta: Activist Warn Against Militancy Rebirth
As the recent threat by ex-militants over the aborted president Jonathan’s ground breaking ceremony in Delta state continue to trigger debate over the re-emergence of militancy, a Warri based legal practitioner and the National coordinator Conference for the Actualization of Human Rights(CAHR)Comrade Ogedegbe Omemiroro has advised the Delta state government to live up to expectations , in other to avert a rebirth of militancy in Delta waterways.
He gave the advise while speaking with our correspondent on the recent uprising in the Delta waters, coupled with the alleged abduction of some journalists in the region.
Speaking on the threat by ex-militants, the activist call on the Delta state government to live up to expectations.
Speaking further, he called on the federal government to investigate the alleged abduction of journalists by ex-militants in Delta waterways.
It will be recalled that ex-militants from Gbaramatu kingdom in Warri South West local council had protested on speed boats in a show of force, to express their displeasure over the president proposed visit to Delta state before the visit was cancelled.
Meanwhile, Naval troops have continued to patrol the Delta waterways with gun boats, to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
