Delta state chairman confiscate goods
Barely a week after the Chairman of Uvwie local government area of Delta state, Ramson Onoyaike issued an ultimatum for roadside traders obstructing traffic in the popular Effurun market to vacate, the chairman and a team of the special task force have commenced the confiscation of goods belonging to the traders.
This is coming after the council chairman promised to take goods seized from the traders to orphanage homes within the council area.
While traders were lamenting, the chairman indiscriminately seized the goods belonging to the helpless traders. The exercise happened during the early hours of Tuesday, February 20.
The council chairman and the special task force who arrived the market with armed policemen, moved from one trade point to the other as their goods were packed into a waiting van.
Speaking at the heart of Delta orphanage home where the goods were transferred to, the chairman spoke of the earlier ultimatum.
On the confiscated goods which includes food items and clothing, the Chairman said it will help in assisting the children.
It will be recalled that the council chairman had last week read the riot act to roadside traders at the market, threatening to confiscate their goods before today’s exercise.
