The federal has acquired Equipment for the testing of the coronavirus symptoms.

Minister of health, Doctor Osagie Enahire made the disclosure while addressing state house correspondents after Wednesday’s federal executive council meeting held at the presidential villa, Abuja.

Dr. Enahire said the Polymerase Chain Reaction, PCR, Machines were acquired last week for molecular diagnosis to monitor the outbreak of the deadly virus.

Wednesday’s Council meeting was presided over by  Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who stood in for President Muhammadu Buhari who was representing Nigeria at this year's African Union summit in Addis Ababa.

The meeting lasted for four hours and when they rose ministers who made a presentation at the meeting briefed journalists on the memoranda.

Health minister, Osagie Enahire gave an update on the trending cases of coronavirus and Lassa fever.

He said arrangements have been made to ensure that visitors coming into the country are adequately screened to avoid the spread of the disease while confirming that, the scourge has not gotten to Nigeria and Africa,

The minister also said efforts so far made by the government has reduced the spread efficacy of Lassa fever to fifteen percent from its previous rate of thirty percent.

The minister also said Nigeria has three test centers where coronavirus could be tested in Nigeria,

The council also appointed lead forensic auditor for the planned auditing of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

Niger Delta  Affairs Minister, Godswin Akpabio said the lead auditor will appoint other nine forensic auditors expected to audit the agency between 2001 and 2019.

Approval was also given for the release of N867 million for engineering works on the additional lane for Abuja/kano highway to be executed in five months and  N1.5Billion for the purchase of marine vendors at the ports.

The concerned minister gave explanations on the approvals.

The ministry of transport also got council’s approval to spend a hundred and forty-four million Naira for  the rehabilitation  of the tin island port in Lagos
