Closure of Schools: Minister of Education Pleads to State Governors

As the closing of some schools in some Northern States continues to generate more ripples among Nigerians, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa has called for caution among the state Governors in the country.

Speaking during a press conference in Abuja ahead of the 2025 Commonwealth Day, Dr. Alausa, said the decision to close schools is at the prerogative of the Governors, whom he said has constitutional rights to do so.

GALAXY TV reports that the Minister, who claimed that the closure has noting to the with the Federal government urged state Governors to understand the Education is on the concurrent list and should be treated same in the interest of all and Sundry.

On the 2025 Commonwealth Day with the theme, Together We Thrive, Dr. Alausa said it provides opportunities for member Countries to foster unity and promote peace noting that, it will also enable the Youth to realize the need to contribute to peace building.

The grand finale of the 2025 Commonwealth Day has been scheduled for Monday 10th, 2025 with series of Activities lined up.
