Oyo: House Assembly Holds Valedictory Service
After four undisrupted years of meritorious legislative activities, members of the Oyo State House of Assembly held its valedictory session for the out going honourable members of the 7th Assembly. It was a service that drew different kinds of speeches-anecdotes, factual and concise from the honourable members who unanimously extolled the peaceful and matured conducts of all the members in the just concluded 7th Assembly.
We have also passed 387 resolutions to effectively direct the effective arm on pro-people issues. These records are testament to the character of each of the individual that comprises this assembly.
The senator-elect however acknowledged the pivotal roles played by other lawmakers in the Assembly in alleviating the crisis situation in the state over the past four years of their legislative activities.
Some of the out going lawmakers who contributed in their separate remarks lauded the speaker for her motherly role in steering the ship of the Assembly for four years without any rancor. But the deputy speaker of the Assembly, Hon. David Olaniyan during an interview with WP after the valedictory session said the financial challenges being confronted in the state handicapped them in meeting their obligations and commitments to the people of their constituencies.
We have not been paid our salaries for four months and that has really affected some of us but we have managed to end our session well without any rancor and we are hopeful that the next assembly will maintain the standards we have set and continue where we stopped.
