National Assembly commiserates with Plateau govt

Authorities of the National Assembly is set to paying their own condolences to the plateau people in the wake of the Saturday night crisis which claimed the lives of over a hundred persons.


Chairman of national assembly Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Yakubu Dogara gave the indication while addressing state house correspondents after a brief meeting with president Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa Abuja, Wednesday.

Senator Saraki said they were in the villa to commiserate with the president and to brainstorm on ways to ending the crisis on the plateau.

Saraki condemned serial killing in the country particularly the Saturdays’ which caused many deaths.

He said they discussed issues to bring back sanity to the affected areas.

Speaker of the house of representative, Yakubu Dogara said the president briefed them on measures being put in place by the government to avoid a recurrence.

Yakubu said described the period as sober moment adding that government will no longer tolerate situations like that.

He insists that government must not lose the fight against violence come what may.

The leaders also appealed Nigerians to always embrace peace and live with one another in harmony.

Recall that people were killed in their hundreds in Plateau State on Saturday night when gunmen suspected to be herdsmen went on rampage sacking communities and killing residents there.
