JANG, OTHERS CALLS FOR EXTENSION OF VOTERS REGISTRATION
Governor Jonah David Jang of Plateau State and chairman of the House of Representatives committee on human rights Rep Beni Lar have called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to extend the ongoing voters registration exercise in order to capture all eligible voters.
Governor Jang, who made the call at his Du country home, said INEC should learn from the experiences of other democratic nations and make the exercise a continuous process.
The governor described the ongoing exercise at his Du voting centre in Jos South Local Government Area as shoddy, due to technical problems encountered by the INEC ad hoc staff.
Rep Beni Lar, in a statement, said the extension will give room for all eligible Nigerians to be captured in the biometric register of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
She urged INEC to ensure the registration of every Nigerian who attended the voting so that they could vote during elections. Lar however lamented the slow pace of the ongoing voter registration exercise.
