INEC HOLDS STAKEHOLDERS FORUM IN BENIN

Edo Resident Electoral commissioner has re-emphasized the need for political parties in the state to mobilize its members to register for the upcoming permanent Voters’ card (PVC) and not engage in hijacking of cards in their various wards.

Baritor Kpagih, the state electoral commissioner made this known at a stakeholders meeting held in Benin-city, the Edo state capital. He said the new permanent voters card cannot be registered and collected by proxy, added that attempt to hijack the process disenfranchises prospective voters.

Mr Kpagih, who advised political parties to shun violence ahead of the upcoming elections in the state, said such practices will do no good to anyone except through proper registration.

Edo resident electoral who urge politicians and the citizens to avail themselves of the exercise said the date has been shifted forward to enable them register, saying that all those who have attained the eligible age, those who have not register before and those who have register but their name is not in the register are expected to do so.

An Assistant Commissioner of Police A Janga, who represented the Mr Folusho Adebanjo, Edo state police commissioner during questions and answer allayed the fears of political parties that there will be adequate security during the exercise in Edo.
