Police in Ekiti State have arrested five suspects for gang-raping a 14 year old girl at Ikole Ekiti.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Victor Babayemi who confirmed the arrest in Ado Ekiti, said one of the suspects lured the victim into his room where they took their turn to defile her.

The Police spokesperson said neighbors who heard the cry of the victim rushed to the scene, caught them pants down and immediately alerted the police. He said the victim was taken to the hospital and the result of the medical examination showed she was actually raped by the gang.

He said the suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is complete. Babayemi also disclosed that the command is currently investigating a murder case involving one Sylvester Godwin, aged 14 years, for alleging shooting and killing his brother with his father's loaded gun.

He however called for the support of the public to report any suspicious move, adding that the police will always be on the side of the people as their constitutional responsibility is to protect them.
