The National working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has implored the APC-led federal government to call to order the 19 lawmakers intending to impeach the Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose illegally.

According to reports major roads leading into Ado-Ekiti, the state capital have been blocked since yesterday with heavy duties vehicles by some residents of the state as the crisis between the state Governor, Ayo Fayose and 19 APC Lawmakers continue. It is speculated that the road block is done to prevent the 19 lawmakers from gaining entrance into the state, therefore being unable to execute their impeachment plans.

The NWC led by the PDP Acting National chairman, Uche Secondus urged Ekiti people to resist any act that is not in line with the nation's constitution and the rule of law. The PDP acting national chairman expressed displeasure on the lingering crisis which according to him is unnecessary in the overall
interest of the rule of law in Nigeria. He stressed the need for the 19 APC lawmakers to follow the law and not engage in illegality in their quest to impeach the governor of the state.

He said there is a court order that subsist which had restrained them from going on with the impeachment process, adding that Adewale Omirin is no longer the speaker and cannot give any order to the chief Judge to set up any panel.
            
Contrary to the claim that the PDP was begging President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene, Secondus said the party didnot beg anybody but has only called that the rule of the Law should prevail. While thanking the NWC for their intervention, the State governor Ayo Fayose said the lawmakers have just two days to go and cannot remove him or do anything.
             
The PDP national working committee has however stated that democracy must be allowed to prevail in the country.
