Edo: Truck Loaded With Petroleum Apprehended By Police
Truck loaded with petroleum product has been impounded by Edo state petroleum monitoring committee after two occupants of the vehicle ran away following interrogation by officials.
The truck which allegedly contain adulterated product was said to have been impounded at about 10 pm Friday night.
Officials of the state petroleum monitoring committee who spoke to Galaxy news in Benin on the arrest said, the truck impounded had less than 15,000 liters of product carrying a way bill of MRS which contravene its destination.
Nosa Idele-Ogbeide, the Director of petroleum taskforce, who made the arrest said the vehicle was seen in an unholy hour during interrogation both the driver and the other occupant fled away after the papers they carried portrays a different thing from what it portend, while Aledeh Hodu, state government official said the density of the product fell short of expectation. They said after investigation appropriate sanctions will be taken against anyone found culpable.
Recently there are have been cases of diversion and vandalism of pipelines in the state, many of whom of have been prosecuted. Some management officials of the MRS Benin met the task force to compare the documents the truck carried. When asked to comment denounce on camera.
