On June 1st, hundreds of protesting women from three Delta communities of Jakpa, Orumaro and Udumu, all in Uvwie local government area of the

The women who were armed with leaves and placards of different inscriptions, were shouting on top of their voices, calling on the power distribution firm to restore power in their communities which has been in total darkness since last year.
Staffers of the power distribution outfit was taken unawares as the women waited till the close of work to prevent them from leaving the
office complex to remain indoors.Expressing their displeasure over the epileptic power supply, the protesters call on the power distribution outfit to replace old transformers, as power outage in their communities started last year.

the BEDC, protesting the Non-payment of their entitlements. Efforts to speak with the BEDC public relations officer Mr. Edmund Egware was unsuccessful , as he abandoned his official car and left the scene when the protest was intensified, while calls to his phone lines were not answered.
