Delta Police Arrest Notorious Car Thieves
Barely four hours after the Delta state police commissioner met with vigilante groups in Warri to foster a working relationship in fighting crime in the state, operatives of the Warri police B division have arrested two notorious car snatchers who have been on the wanted list of the state command.
State police spokesperson Celestina Kalu in a statement stated that the suspects identified as Igho Okiemute and Onyemone Egiliga was arrested after robbing a man driving an Airtel branded bus.
The police public relations officer stated that the victim raised an alarm which led to the arrest of the suspects who was slow to enter the bus, while two other gang members quickly rushed into the bus and sped off with their rifles as the police gave them a hot chase to no avail.
The suspects according to the police have confessed to being members of a car snatching syndicate within the Warri metropolis, while the branded bus was recovered along airport road in Warri where it was abandoned.
It would be recalled that despite the series of suspected car snatchers paraded by the state police command with state of the art cars, residents are still lamenting the sudden increase of criminal
activities in the state, which is a major challenge to the new police commissioner Alkali Usman.
