Benin Airport To Be Closed Soon For Maintenance
The Benin Airport will soon be closed for commercial Flight activities two days from now as indication have emerge that the closure may last for three weeks.
Benin Airport one of the oldest in the country, according to an official who refuses to disclose his identity said the closure is to enable the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) carry out all round maintenance at the airport.
Our Correspondent, who visited the Benin Airport, report that the Airport was barley flurry of activities following the news that filtered in as most workers will have to be out of job on the interim.
He said the closure will take place from on the 20th of June to 17th of July, 2015. Effort to get the Airport manager Ayodele Segun, to speak camera on the matter was not forthcoming as he noted that they were yet to be briefed.
Information has it that the maintenance was mostly for the rehabilitation of the run–way (RAMP) to ease flight landing and take-off. The Benin Aiport main building was last renovated three years ago, with some parts already wearing out.
All flight activities would now be shifted to Warri or Asaba Airport pending when repairs are fully effected.
Meanwhile, travellers within the state and many other travellers will now have to adopt alternative route to Abuja and elsewhere.
