Anambra youths urge INEC to ignore IPOB
The National Association of Anambra State Students Union (NUASS) has passed a vote of no confidence on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) position of election Boycott in the state.
They distanced themselves from the clamour by IPOB requesting Ndigbo not to participate in any election in Nigeria, starting with Anambra state governorship election.
Galaxy television witnessed the youths protest to the INEC headquarters in Awka, and filed this report.
The Anambra state students union in a protest went round major streets of Awka before heading to the INEC’s headquarters
Chanting different song to press home their demand, the protesters maintained that Anambra state was not ready to be used as a testing ground for a group to experiment their popularity. They urged relevant agencies in the conduct of election to ensure they deliver on the people’s mandate of conducting a free, fare and credible exercise that would be acceptable to all.
Addressing the youths who barricaded the entrance of the INEC headquarters in Awka, the Anambra state head of INEC head of voter education, Ikedife Leo extolled the youths for harping on the part of statesmanship by standing to defend their constitutional rights.
He encouraged them to reach out to other youths and educate them on the need to stay clear of electoral mal-practices and thuggery, which according to him, are criminal acts before the law of the land.
The students however vowed not to support any leader who wants to cause electoral violence in the state .
