The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 43 years old housewife, Bisola Awodele for allegedly pouring hot water on her alcoholic husband, Peter Phillips.

The police also say the suspect had given birth to a baby about eight months ago, but she killed and secretly buried the baby out of frustration.

The mother of five reportedly accused the husband of excessive drinking of alcohol while abandoning the welfare of the family.

The victim reportedly ran into the police station at Ota, Ogun State, with first degree burns all over his body and reported that there was an altercation between him and his wife who accused him of always getting drunk.

He told the police that in the process of the exchange of words, the wife picked up a pot containing hot water, and poured it on him.

The Police Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi on Sunday confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta.

He said following receipt of the report, the area commander ACP Muhideen Obe quickly directed the operatives to effect the arrest of the woman. 

According to Oyeyemi, a preliminary investigation had revealed that the suspect gave birth to a baby about eight months ago, but she killed and secretly buried the baby out of frustration. 

He hinted that the husband has been taken to the general hospital, Ota, where he is presently recuperating

Oyeyemi quoted the commissioner of police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun to have ordered the immediate transfer of the case to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution.
