UTME Results: Jamb Begins Investigation Over Complaints

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it has commencement investigation following unusual complaints surrounding the release of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
The results, which were released last Friday, have sparked a significant number of complaints from candidates, particularly concentrated in a few states across the federation.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Board’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB disclosed that it is fast-tracking its annual post-examination system review, a comprehensive audit traditionally conducted months after the exercise, in light of the concerns raised.
The review, according to the statement, will scrutinize every stage of the examination process, from registration and conduct to the release of results, to identify and address any potential technical issues.
It further explained that during the examination phase, JAMB ensured that every candidate was able to sit for their test and, in cases of technical glitches, promptly reschedules affected candidates.
Jamb noted that the Board is particularly concerned about the volume and nature of the complaints coming from specific states, and is examining these reports thoroughly.
The Statement added that to assist in the review, JAMB has assembled a team of technical experts, including members of the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria, Chief External Examiners who are heads of tertiary institutions, experts from the Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa, measurement specialists, and Vice Chancellors from various universities.
The examination board declared that if investigation confirms the existence of technical challenges, JAMB will implement appropriate remedial measures without delay.
It will be recalled that following the release of the 2025 UTME results, many candidates took to social media to express concerns, claiming their scores did not reflect their actual performance in the examination. They had called for a thorough review of the results.
JAMB has now reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, accuracy, and the integrity of its examination processes.
