Two killed, scores injured in fresh herdsmen attack
Two people have been confirmed dead, while several others have sustained various degrees of injuries after an attack perpetrated by suspected Fulani herdsmen on residents of Umenger community in the Guma local government area of Benue state.
Upon the attack, the killer herdsmen set ablaze, houses belonging to the residents who are indigenes of the community.
This attack is coming barely 48 hours after Governor Samuel Ortom toured 8 Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in Guma and Logo local government areas of the state.
Many of the residents who just returned home from their IDP camps to commence new farming season have all fled their homes over the fear of being attacked and killed.
During the tour of IDP camp on Monday, some villagers in Urvii near Umenger had reported of strange and suspicious persons hiding in between grasses while running for their life.
In a phone call with the Benue state commissioner of police, Fatai Owoseni, said the command would get back to a Galaxy television correspondent who contacted the police boss, as the command was still collecting their facts of the incidence.
However effort to get to Guma local government chairman, proved abortive as calls put through to him was not reachable.
