Two Dead as IPOB, Police clash in Nnewi
There has been reports that members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and officers of the Nigeria Police Force, in Anambra State, on Friday, November 23, clashed at the popular Nkwo Nnewi Market.
The clash allegedly happened when members of the pro Biafra group were at Nnewi to drive home their stance of boycotting the the 2019 General election in the South East.
The protesters numbering over 2,000 were said to have stormed the market, waving the Biafran flag, and chanting ‘no referendum, no election’.
Trouble, however, started when police operatives arrived the scene in three hilux vans and tried to disrupt the group's activities.
Members of the group were alleged to have pounced on the police officers, destroying their vans and leaving two officers in the pool of their own blood.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the PPRO of the command, SP. Haruna Mohammed, said the police have arrested 34 members of the group and have restored nomalcy to the area.
He however confirmed that an Inspector lost his life in the face-off and that two officers (a DPO and an Assistant Superintendent of Police) are currently receiving treatment.
He also confirmed that the command lost two Ak47 riffles and a baretta pistol.
