Stakeholders calls FG to takeover LAUTECH
As the crisis rocking the Ladoke Akintola university of technology (LAUTECH), in Ogbomosho continue, the alumni of the university wants the federal government to take over the institution should the two owner states of Oyo and Osun refuse to resolve its financial problems.
Addressing a press conference in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, the president of the alumni, Jide Bewaji said the step is necessary since both the Oyo and Osun state governments have refused to make their financial obligations to the institution leading to the indefinite closure of the university.
Bewaji appealed to governors Rauf Aregbesola of Osun and Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state to properly finance the institution or allow the federal government to take it over.
On the recent violence by the students of the university which resulted in the cancellation of the on going UTME examinations in the school, the alumni condemned the action describing it as the handiwork of few unscrupulous students in the institution.
They said students of the institution are being made to bear the brunt of the school closure.
