Some People Are Abusing the Lockdown – Osun Residents Lament
Some people have raised concern about possible abuse of gradual ease of lockdown announced by the Governor of Osun State.
One of them said total lockdown as prescribed by the World Health Organisation would have been the best option to ensure the total containment of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Our correspondent who went round Osogbo, the capital of Osun State reports that there is a partial level of compliance with the different measures prescribed by the state government.
Some of the measures include wearing of facemask, maintaining social distance, inter-states border and major market closure as well as a reduction in the number of passengers being carried by public road transporters.
Just as activities are beginning to pick up at the State Secretariat with the resumption of workers on grade level 12 and above while others work from home, business owners are hoping to make sales with easing of lockdown.
However, the situation in the banking sector raises a certain level of concern as the social and physical distancing measure has been difficult to maintain.
