Oyo Issues Employment Letters to People Living with Disability
Oyo state government has commenced distribution of appointment letters to Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWD) in the state.
The exercise which kicked off today at the state secretariat was to enlist about one hundred and fifty People Living with Disability into the state teaching service commission and another fifty as non-teaching staff.
Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that recently persons living with disabilities in Oyo state staged a protest barricading entrance into the state secretariat with an agitation that they had been shortchanged in appointment into the state teaching service commission.
Speaking during the exercise, the chairman of TESCOM, Akinade Alamu and Executive Assistant to the Governor on administration, Idowu Ogedenge explained that though the process had been fair, the choice of an open issuance of appointment letters was to allow those aggrieved adjudge the process themselves.
They urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the opportunity while calling on those left out to exercise patience.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on People Living With Disability, the President of the Barrister Ayodele Adekanbi and the National President, Nigerian Association of People Living with Disability, Olu Kayode and a beneficiary commended the state government for the gesture.
