Nigeria Police recover 1,519 Stolen vehicles

The Nigeria Police Force has recovered 1,519 stolen vehicles in the year 2024 including 52 in January 2025 alone, with ongoing investigations into more cases.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja, where he highlighted the role of the Electronic Central Motor Registry (e-CMR) in these successes.

GALAXY TV reports that Adejobi explained that the e-CMR is a digital database of licensed vehicles, enabling instant theft reporting and aiding recoveries saying since its launch, over 400,000 vehicles have been registered, with 1,011 reported stolen and 5,877 flagged for conflicting information.

He added that one major recovery involved a Toyota Highlander stolen in 2021 noting that the owner reported the theft through the e-CMR portal two years later.

He added that vehicle owners could registered their vehicle information with the Nigeria Police by visiting https://loom.ly/VXgjhwo while those reporting a stolen vehicle could do so through the dedicated portal at https://loom.ly/_SSfS9s

Adejobi reiterated the Inspector General of Police’s commitment to modern technology in crime-fighting, urged citizens to utilize the e-CMR platform and report suspicious activities, emphasizing the Police Force’s dedication to protecting lives and property.
