LG appointees protest in Bayelsa
Aggrieved former local government political appointees in Bayelsa state have taken to the streets of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital, in a peaceful protest over the Non-payment of their severance allowance by the government.
The protesters under the aegis of Forum of Former local government political appointees, marched from the Yenagoa local government council secretariat before terminating at the government house gate with placards of different inscriptions, chanting solidarity songs.
Speaking on the protest, the chairman and legal adviser of the forum appealed to the Bayelsa state government for urgent action.
Meanwhile, after singing solidarity songs for over thirty minutes at the government house gate amid security presence, the special adviser to the governor on security matters later came out to brief the protesters.
The chairman of the Forum also promised to mobilise his members should the state governor fails to act promptly on their demand when he returns from vacation.
