As the trial of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Baifra, Continues at the federal High Court in Abuja, Kinsmen and family members of Nnamdi Kanu has expressed deep concern and outrage over the continuous, shameless manipulation of court proceedings by some media Organizations

The Family in a statement issued at the end of Wednesday proceedings declared that some media have become the unofficial megaphones of the State Security Services (SSS) and the prosecuting authority, spreading one-sided propaganda, while deliberately ignoring crucial courtroom developments that dismantle the Government’s case.

The statement stated that the distortion remains a case in point noting that Instead of reporting on the damning cross-examination of government witness PW-BBB, who embarrassingly admitted that no investigation report exists to support the charges against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, some media Organizations chose to publish one sided report.

The family called on the presiding Judge, Justice James Omotosho, to ban any media organizations promoting unbalance and biased reports regarding the ongoing trial.

The Family equally appealed to the court to permit live streaming of the trial proceedings to guarantee fairness, transparency, and accountability adding that the trial is not just about Mazi Nnamdi Kanu but a test of the integrity of the Nigerian judiciary, the independence of the media, and the rule of law in a democracy.

It added that Continued distortion of proceedings will serve to deepen national division and erode public trust.
