Governor Diri Warns FG On Dangers Of Using ex-militants To Protect Pipelines
The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has called on the Federal Government to review its policy of using non-state actors to secure the maritime environment of the country.
Governor Diri, who expressed concern that the continued use of such unconventional security agents might cause greater security challenges in the near future, while calling for the strengthening of the Nigerian Navy to perform its constitutional responsibility.
Governor Diri made the call on during a visit by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogala, at Government House in Yenagoa.
Represented by his deputy, he used the opportunity to commend officers and men of the Nigerian Navy serving in the state for demonstrating professionalism in discharging their official duties.
Responding, the Chief of the Naval staff vice admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, said oil production has increased in the past six months in line with the Presidents directives.
