Edo NUJ secretary impeached over alledged diversion of 5m
The Nigerian Union of Journalists(NUJ) Edo state council has impeached the union's state secretary Aleman-Ozioruva Aliu over alleged diversion of fund belonging to the union.
The secretary of the union was also suspended indefinitely along with eight other members of the union who were believed to have shared the alleged 5 million naira from former Governor Adams Oshomhole.
The 5 million naira is said to be a parting gift from former Governor Adams Oshomhole toJournalists in Edo state but the accused nine journalists said that money was for them as friends of the former Governor.
The suspend journalists are, Simon Ebegbulem (Vanguard), Cajetan Mmuta (New Telegraph), Patrick Ochoga (Leadership) , Ehis Igbaugba (News Agency of Nigeria) also, Tony Osauzo (Sun), Adekunbi Ero (Tell), Friday Otabor Osagie (Nation) and Adibe Emenyonu (This Day) Newspapers.
The Chairman of the union Roland Osakue said the accused members were giving opportunity to defend themselves and refund the money but they refused.
