Dino Melaye slams N5billion suit
The alleged certificate scandal of the senator representing the Kogi west senatorial district, Dino Melaye, seems to have taken a new shape as the senator has approached the FCT High Court to demand a N5billion libel suit against SaharaReporters.
Senator Melaya says he is taking the action over alleged defamation of character, wrongful accusation, among other charges.
SaharaReporters in a report alleged that Senator Dino Melaye did not complete his first degree in Geography at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Recall that the alleged certificate saga led the Senate to refer the matter to its ethics and privileges committee for investigation.
The committee had the mandate of investigating the allegation that Senator Melaye did not possess an authentic first degree certificate from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Speaking at the High Court premises, Senator Melaye said that he is not only a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, but is still in the University for his third degree.
Senator Melaye equally said that his decision to approach the Court is not a direct press war, as he is suing an outfit that is not a known media organization, or registered with Nigerian Union of Journalists.
The Kogi Senator, while reacting to a call that Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria should have publically clear him of the allegation, said that the decision is left with the University if they so value their name.
