Delta police debunks report on PRO's death
The police in Delta have debunked a viral Whatsapp post making the rounds that the state police command spokesperson Edafe Bright was shot dead in his house.
In a statement personally signed by the state police commissioner Wale Abass made available to our correspondent, the Delta CP advises members of the public to disregard the report.
According to him, a deputy superintendent of police Sunday Okoebor attached to the command X squad was shot and killed when suspected armed robbers broke into his apartment in Asaba under the guise of being EFCC operatives.
Eight suspects have been arrested and have confessed to the crime of killing the police officer and have been detained at the police headquarters in Asaba.
He commiserated with the family of the late police officer as he assured them of justice, while also cautioning members of the public to desist from spreading fake news and urged to reach out to the command for clarification before going to the media.
