Mass Rice Farming Underway In Ondo State
The proposed mass rice farming in Ondo State is set for take off, as the Pilot modern rice farm that was put up by the Ondo State government alongside theĀ Malaysia partner is being harvested.
The Pilot farm that was sited in Ogbese in Akure north local government area is to serve as a test run for the new system of rice farming as it is being done in Malaysia.
This is part of the move of the Mimiko administration to make farming as a sector to tackle unemployment and ensure food security.
Soon with the success of the Pilot scheme of the rice farming, Ondo State people are expected to key along the new system of rice farming and produce rice for sale to Nigerians and as well as other countries of the world.
Speaking with journalists during a visit to the rice farm, the executive governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko said the new technology if adopted in Ondo State will improve rice farming.
The leader of the Malaysia expatriates, Anas Ahmed said in a statement that "the new technology is easy and result oriented if properly managed."
