NMA launches 2017- 2022 strategic plan
The Nigeria Medical Association has expressed the need for stakeholders in the health sector to re- strategize towards tackling emerging infections and prevalence of communicable diseases and non communicable diseases in Nigeria.
NMA President, Professor Mike Ogirima made the call at the public presentation of the NMA six year strategic plan in Abuja, Tuesday.Professor Ogirima said the strategic plan has discovered six thematic areas of health services which need attention.
He identified thematic areas to include Operationalization of the National health Act, Members welfare, and intra/inter professional relationship, improving Health care delivery and research. Other areas are research, strengthening publicity and communication for the Association.
He stressed that the triple jeopardy which Nigeria has been suffering from will be curbed, if the thematic areas are looked into.
Also speaking, Chairman, of the strategic plan committee, Dr. Ben Anyene said the plans will help polish skills of members of the association for effectiveness, efficiency, innovation and intervention.
The theme of the strategic plan is: from words to actions; NMA"walking the talk with partners". The launch of the 2017-2022 strategic plan is the second plan of the Association since its establishment in 1953.
