UI Non Academic Staff Commence Indefinite Strike.
Members of the Non-academic staff unions at the premier University in Nigeria, University of Ibadan have commenced an indefinite strike following the inability of the school management to meet their demands.
Recall that the unions, Association of Senior Staff Union of Universities, Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities, National Association of Universities technicians among others had been at loggerhead with the management of the institution of issues relating to staff welfare, staff schools among others.
Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that aggrieved members of the unions had in the morning locked all entrance to the institution thereby prevented movement in and out of the campus.
Not only this, but they also displayed various charms and concoction at the entrance of the institution a development that scared other staff and students from entering the institution.
Speaking with our correspondent on the development, the Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Universities, Barrister Wale Akinremi and the Secretary of the Union, Abiodun Omisore stated that the actions were to draw the attention of management to the plight of their members.
They maintained that the leadership of the union is still open to negotiations with the management stressing that the strike is an indefinite one.
