A young man identified as Izuchukwu has lost his life as a result of a massive flood arising from the heavy rainfall on Saturday in Owerri.

The young man, died at West End Road area of the state capital, Imo state.

It was reported that the victim attempted to cross a flooded culvert when he slipped over and hit his fore head on the culvert and lost consciousness immediately.

Izuchukwu was unaware that the culvert was among the ones broken in the on going urban renewal programme of the state government.

It was also learnt that Izuchukwu was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, where he was confirmed dead after doctors battled in vain to save his life.

According to a source, it was disclosed that the man was confirmed dead at FMC Owerri, as it was unfortunate that this carelessness claimed this life.
