Lassa fever surfaces in Anambra

Following the re-occurrence of the infectious and deadly disease, Lassa fever that has continued to threaten the health of persons in some states across the country, the deadly disease has again shown up in some parts of Anambra state.

Speaking at the state secretariat in Awka the state capital the commissioner for health, Joe Akabuike confirmed the incident of three suspected fresh cases of Lassa fever in the state.
Some resident in the state while expressing their fears noted that it appears the desiease is been handle with levity, which could be dangerous to the existence of many in the country.
They however tasked medical personnel to work harder in ensuring that the indemic is tackled.
A visit to the state general hospital where the suspected cases were spotted reveals that they have been transferred to Aruwa in Edo state, reason being that the state doesn't have the facility to manage the ailment.
The chief medical director of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu (COO) teaching hospital, Nwankwo Basil said though the three cases spotted were adequately managed and with the Customized ambulance they were all taken out of the state to the centre where the case is being mange.
While advising the residents in the state to keep their environs clean and devoid of rodents which are the major carriers of the disease, Basil charged them to go about their normal businesses without any form of fears.
