Flood washes patches of Adamawa Bridge destroyed by insurgents
The only bridge linking the people of Michika and Madagali local government areas of Adamawa State with its environs has been damaged, following a downpour in the area.
The Dilchim bridge is one of the more than five bridges destroyed by insurgents' attacks in 2014. Its reconstruction had been awarded to a company in 2016 but has witnessed slow progress.
On an assessment visit to the bridge, the Adamawa State Governor Umaru Fintiri expressed dissatisfaction with the level of work done and called for the contractor to fast track the work for the good of the people of those areas
A representative of the construction company complains about the incessant attacks visited on them at the side, while appealing to the State government for adequate security to enable them to complete the work as planned.
If the rehabilitation of the bridge does not commence quickly, as instructed by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and the people of Michika, movement and other commercial activities in the area may become impossible.
