FG Vows To Make More Policies to End Menace
The Ministry of Youth Development will continue to collaborate with security agencies in the fight against the persistent cybercrime. Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande made the disclosure at the stakeholder’s engagement on the negative impact of internet fraud and the role of illegal crypto-currency companies on the economy of Nigeria, held in Abuja, Thursday.
Minister Olawande emphasized the use of alternative means to fight the scourge instead of arrests which sometimes cause pandemonium especially when the suspect resists it.
Outside arrest, the minister explained that the government will keep to its promise to provide more employment opportunities to divert attention of youths who may want to engage in cybercrimes.
Earlier, the Special Assistance to the president on ICT development and digital innovation, Tokoni Igoin, who lamented the negative impact of internet fraud in the country, explained that more policies will be made to discourage the rising internet frauds.
According to him, solid solutions will be proffered after the implementation. Lgoin also condemned public sympathy usually expressed when youths are arrested, calling on Nigerians to desist from making excuses for those that are into cybercrimes, as a crime he said, is crime.
